Cezanne

The vibrant colors and unique style of painting used by Cezanne cause a calm and relaxing feeling and I found myself daydreaming that I'm looking out into the ocean on a warm summer day. Paintings like this show the ways in which Cezanne's approach is different from Impressionist paintings. To indicate spatial depth, Impressionists use different shades of colors and fade those colors toward the background. Cezanne, however, does a great job of displaying a depth perspective by reducing the amount of detail on the far coastline and adding emphasis and detail to the houses in the foreground. The various shades of green blend beautifully together to give the effect that the trees are swaying in a gentle breeze. This painting of a wonderful landscape might be Cezanne's place to escape and think about his work. The houses in the foreground could be his town where he grew up in and where he got most of the inspirations for his paintings.
